Jack R. Gates is a police officer with the Forsyth (Missouri) Police Department. Additional to his duties as a
patrolman, Jack conducts in-service training and is a field training officer. He is also a drug recognition
expert.
Jack is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association. A police trainer since
1995, courses he instructs include standardized field sobriety testing, horizontal gaze nystagmus, ethics, stress management,
Doppler traffic radar operation and racial profiling.
Jack enjoys writing both fiction and non-fiction. His articles have been published in the Missouri Law Enforcement
Journal, American Police Beat and the LACPOA Voice. His short fiction stories have appeared in Sapphire Magazine, Short
Story Magazine and in the Pocol Press anthology
Unusual Circumstances. He is currently working on an impaired driving enforcement book, tentatively planned for publication in 2010.
